The 3rd Century

Okay, this was yesterday.
Flash to the past!

15th August 2007
Arrived at school. Can't remember the wholesome details.
Um, I just know that I arrived 7:50-ish with Philip (lurking).

Sat through Science & Geo, which was unusually quiet - probably because of the absence of Mak Minni & Lyssa.
At Break, went to Hall with Pinky, Philip & Meenakshi for Cpaka Voices.
I found out that there were actually more songs to sing, so obviously I panicked as I didn't remember the lyrics (much).

Practiced, practiced, practiced.

Lunch!
Ahh, well, I had no choice but to eat rice with 5-day old seaweed as Kak Sumi didn't give me much - just the said ingredients.
Yum. A non-filling meal.
Felt like I was having some Japanese diet.

Leandra tried to turn my lunch into a foreign meal - foreign here meaning alien.

Decided to scavenge for my thermos - realized that maybe Kak Sumi was punishing me for not cleaning my room.
Hmm... Very devious.
Then again, she has been with me since I was in reception =P

Went back up, with minutes to spare!
Grabbed my items from my mom, gave her my school bag & zoomed back up to the hall.

Practice, practice, practice.

Finally departed to the (unknown) venue with the creepy bus.
Wasted 10 aggravating minutes in the bus & I was doing nothing but merely talking to the happy couple of the CPAC group.
(You'll find out why I wrote this)

It was awesome - our unknown venue.
I think the theme was mainly butterflies.

There were like butterflies everywhere - erm, design-wise, I mean.
The doors had a pattern of butterflies - I spotted three.
There was also a fountain with two butterflies dancing around.

Very pretty =)
Guess who was the first person who we bumped into the minute we headed inside our ballroom?

The Sunsilk lady!
You know, the one who wears the tudung in those Sunsilk commercials...?
Oh God, I feel guilty for not knowing her name. I better Google her or something.

Although, this had no effect to anyone except Jes, Pinky & I.

We arrived at our dressing rooms - the Bilik Artis Perempuam.
Yea, that's right.
On the silver plate on the front of the door, it read : Bilik Perempuam.

We didn't quite notice it until Julie pointed it out =P

The dressing room was spacey giler!
Wooden cabinet-like lockers with a toilet with 3 toilets & 2 showers.
Benches, chairs & a vanity mirror were also inclusive.

We hung around there, talking & buzzing until it was 6-ish pm.
Went to the stage for sound-check & practice, right after witnessing Sheila Majid's performance.
We were dead nervous - Jes, Farah D & I wanted her autograph!
Watched Leon & Julie's performance. It was fabulous.
The "No, you can't. Yes, I can." performance.

Went down - or shall we say up? - for dinner.

It was the BOMB!
The food was delicious - mmm...

Rice, daging rendang, sweet & sour fish, chicken...
Well, I remembered that the line was super long & Mr Andrew cut our line =.="
Khai Liang tried to too but failed since I 'accidentally' tripped him.

Sat down at a table with Pinky, Dani, Joanna, VK, Khai Liang, Edward & Annabelle (I hope I spelled your name properly).
Ate dinner.
Watched the guys - specifically VK, Khai Liang & Edward - 3G-ing each other =P

Had a very uncomfortable conversation.
Ran for the brownies.

I'm sorry but my brownies are better =P

Listened to the National Choir singing.
God, they were super awesome. The altos rocked.
Ms Ann & Julie were getting ultimately nervous.

Went back to our dressing rooms - cheh wahh, we sound like celebs.
Hmm... Taught Jes how to box (properly) =P
Oh, & reminisce the Assembly moment where he went all funny on the, "It's the Hare & The Tortoise!"

& just then, a sudden realization struck.
I didn't bring my shoes.

I was stuck with sport shoes.
That was why I wrote the Wasted 10 minutes talking... thing!

I felt like such a coward so I decided that the closest I could do of black shoes were Leon's which could've been completely black if not for the white shoelaces.
But I wore it anyway.

Until Ms Ann found out about the dillemma.
Received the huge told-off I deserved.

Time was slowly melting away & all I remember are all the moments walking around, panicking, singing & laughing with Joanna, Pinky, VK & Dani - you guys rock.

Erm, except VK.
Because for one, dude, you don't rock when you fart...

Twice.

& another, you don't wear other people's uniform, especially when the owner happens to be your opposite sex =.="

Lastly, he cheats in Thumb Wars! =P

Other than that, I remember karaoke-ing with Dani the Merpatih Putih song.
& then it was near the time to go on stage.

Changed, wore the usual make-up (blue-slash-green eyeshadow, blusher).
Got a pep-talk from Datin, who was just glowing - by the way, congrats to Datin, for receiving the 3rd century award!
Then, begin the (what I'm realizing) traditional group pictures.

Gave up about the shoes issue & succumbed to Joanna's (joke) suggestion - I wore my socks over my shoes.
Yes, you heard.

I went on National Television, sang in front of the Prime Minister & hundreds of people in sock-covered shoes.

& you wouldn't believe that I actually received compliments for my 'ingenious' idea - which Joanna took credit for, of course.

Why, though, I wouldn't know.

So, yea, we were the first runner-up (not like it was a contest) for the dinner show, just when people got their dinner.
We were dead nervous back stage. There were another layer of red curtains so there could've been alot of free space to walk back & forth but there were too much TV stuff, I guess.
What, with all the wires & stuff.

There were also some models who were dead pretty & a few VIP-looking people.

Finally it was our turn.
So there we were on stage, a girl happening to wear socks over her shoes but no one noticed (thankfully), singing Getaran Jiwa, Bunga Cempaka & lastly...
Tanggal 31!

=P

It was done.
Over.
Kapuit.

But it was brilliant, or that's what my mom's friend said, at least.
We hung around until Datin got her award - so we got to eat dinner... Twice!
I sat with the same people, I think
- Pinky, Dani, VK, Farah D, Farah F, Annabelle, Edward, Choi An (did I spell the name correctly? I'm sorry =/ ) & Joanna.

Mmmm... 2nd helpings with the chicken, this time, since, you know, there weren't people watching me eat or something.
& if there were, they were just the people I knew.

Ooh, I saw Mrs Wee & Ms Chung & Pn Hamidah at the event!

Not only did we get a delicious serving of dinner, not only just the freebies we've received (an environmental-friendly bag, with Malay Women magazines & collectible chocolates) but most importantly...

This time, we had brownies.
With ice cream!

=P

So we departed, after what seemed a few speeches.
Collected our stuff.
Checked.
Calmed down Pinky, who was a little creeped out with the bus because it was, you know, a little old so it looked a little eery with the lamp light shining on it.

To be honest, I was creeped out, too.

Anyway, we went back home.
Smiled at the increasingly familiar environment - laughter, girl screams...
& then, I closed my eyes, put my legs up, hummed to myself a song & the next thing I knew...

I woke up with a thud! & voila, we arrived.
At 11:30pm, no less.

I happily went back home until I had another realization.
No, not that my food could spoil in my lunch box which was in my locker overnight.
No, not that my shoes were left in the hall.
Not even because I was wearing a pair of socks which I used inside-out.

It was that...

There was school the next day.

=P

Haha,
Well, yea.
There goes the events of the wonderfully melodious day =P

& now, dear friends, readers...
I shall hit the hay.

Commencements : Take Two

It's half past two in the morn' & here I am, blogging in fear that I forget every excruciatingly awesome detail of this equally awesome (yester)day.

[ahem]

Arrived at 11.
Sweaty all over. Got a very unexpected (& not very pleasant) welcome from Richard =.="
Saw Ms Ann strolling down linkbridge - laughingly informed us that we were supposed to come at eleven thirty.

Went for break/lunch with Xela, Enna Uhs, Cheng, Roy, Ivan.

Gathered at linkbridge for bus to depart.
Zara & I used our super powers to move the bus - no, don't laugh.
It really did move!

=P

Sadly, we didn't go in the bus but in Mr G's car.
Oh, oh, oh!
Must not miss the part when Philip had to go by van with the rest of the Primary kids & hysterically sent us a clear message =P

During the ride, I got complimented by darling Zara that I smile like Vitamin C.
My witness is Leandra - she'll come to my defense =P

We mostly lepak-ed around during the first half of the day.
Oh, I remember that Philip & I were searching for a Mac to watch 200 pounds Beauty - yes, I shall grudgingly admit that the boy has... Some taste.

Unfortunately, he gave away Brandon's Mac to Julie.
Really.

Watched the others performed - including the Cannon Rock & the Mamboz body percussion, which ROCKS!

Also read my latest book, The Waitress by Melissa Nathan, bless her soul.

Oh, oh, oh!
Sudden scene flashback : Backstage, was hitting Philip with Pinky, Mithrra & Lavinia because he said something annoying - I forgot what - & then Leon came in & he was like, "Woah, how many girls do you have here? 1, 2, 3, 4...? Ni-ice..."

Hmmm... Then we changed into our uniform & went to CPAC for pictures.
My knees hurt & was pretty sure that the guys in the front rows are pretty sore too.

Okay. I'm spacing out on the things between.

Oh, oh, oh!
I remember that Noodles - sorry, Farah F - was serenading me again (ahahahah) & Farah D came in & caught her in the act & we fell into hysterical giggling fits.

Because whenever Farah D was searching for Farah F, she always catches her singing to me =P

& then, Farah F was trying to sing She to me but Dani was in the singing fever too so he was singing aloud & the two started to have a row to shut up.

Hehe.
Life as the Cempaka Voices choir member would never be boring.

Blanking out.

Oh, accidentally called Azam Asam & Gabrielle Eugene.
Feeling guilty.

Oh, oh, oh!
There was that one time where I suddenly had the urge to do a goofy dance & spotted an empty room.
Opened the door & nearly began but noticed someone at the corner of the room, all emo or either very bored.

Wanted to die because my right hand was nearly at a disco position.

PIASK

We were waiting for the Commencements to just start already & finally, at 10:30pm on the dot, it began.

The choir was fun - woohoo!
The body percussion were awesome.

Ian was brilliant at his piano solo - obviously.
Joann was equally jaw-dropping with her (Italian? Latin? French?) solo.
&, of course, the orchestra was fantastic with the Rihanna song!

Well, yea, that's all I can remember.

Damn. I think it's too late - early? - for me.
I can't think well.

Oh well.

Till then,
Aishah =)
