LangQuiz

By just the title, you can already tell that it's a bundle of joy just having the honor to participate this entirely exciting game!

Gee whiz!

It was plain & bland like a blank piece of paper hung up in the National Gallery.
There were two groups just now : Group A (Anna, Adil, Sampras, Gao Jye, Daniel Chan, Brandon Saw, Puffy, Baonnie & I) VS. Group B (Philip, Brian, Alex, Melanie, Roy, Shu Anne, Kah Long & Wen Xin).

So... Yea. There were alot of 'intermissions' so it wasn't that long.

The Language Quiz (hence, LangQuiz) is about...
Collective Nouns

I find myself labeled 'weak in collective nouns' as I failed to answer :
"A -(dash)- of students"

The answer was Class.

See?? Even Brandon didn't know.

Hmm... But actually, I just wanna say that I really think it's disturbing to find discrimination issues still around.
I mean, whatever - I'm going to sound like an old weezer but it's true.

Please - kindly - stop with the discrimination issues.
Discrimination by color, age, sex... Anything that's just discriminating.

It may be a joke to you but it's not to others.

Finals

Whoopdeedoo.
What would you do when your finals exam is finally over? The unofficial sign of the end of the year in the students' language?

Nope. Apparently it means that it's the beginning of the next year for the teachers.
Yesirreee... There's nothing more we could look forward to than learning new subjects a week before festivities' holidays!

Honestly! My grades are HORRIBLE.
I've only got 2 As, 2 Bs, 1 C & 1 D.

ONE C & A D!!!!

NGAHHHH!!!!!

Sorry.
Finals pressure just stink.

The 3rd Century

Okay, this was yesterday.
Flash to the past!

15th August 2007
Arrived at school. Can't remember the wholesome details.
Um, I just know that I arrived 7:50-ish with Philip (lurking).

Sat through Science & Geo, which was unusually quiet - probably because of the absence of Mak Minni & Lyssa.
At Break, went to Hall with Pinky, Philip & Meenakshi for Cpaka Voices.
I found out that there were actually more songs to sing, so obviously I panicked as I didn't remember the lyrics (much).

Practiced, practiced, practiced.

Lunch!
Ahh, well, I had no choice but to eat rice with 5-day old seaweed as Kak Sumi didn't give me much - just the said ingredients.
Yum. A non-filling meal.
Felt like I was having some Japanese diet.

Leandra tried to turn my lunch into a foreign meal - foreign here meaning alien.

Decided to scavenge for my thermos - realized that maybe Kak Sumi was punishing me for not cleaning my room.
Hmm... Very devious.
Then again, she has been with me since I was in reception =P

Went back up, with minutes to spare!
Grabbed my items from my mom, gave her my school bag & zoomed back up to the hall.

Practice, practice, practice.

Finally departed to the (unknown) venue with the creepy bus.
Wasted 10 aggravating minutes in the bus & I was doing nothing but merely talking to the happy couple of the CPAC group.
(You'll find out why I wrote this)

It was awesome - our unknown venue.
I think the theme was mainly butterflies.

There were like butterflies everywhere - erm, design-wise, I mean.
The doors had a pattern of butterflies - I spotted three.
There was also a fountain with two butterflies dancing around.

Very pretty =)
Guess who was the first person who we bumped into the minute we headed inside our ballroom?

The Sunsilk lady!
You know, the one who wears the tudung in those Sunsilk commercials...?
Oh God, I feel guilty for not knowing her name. I better Google her or something.

Although, this had no effect to anyone except Jes, Pinky & I.

We arrived at our dressing rooms - the Bilik Artis Perempuam.
Yea, that's right.
On the silver plate on the front of the door, it read : Bilik Perempuam.

We didn't quite notice it until Julie pointed it out =P

The dressing room was spacey giler!
Wooden cabinet-like lockers with a toilet with 3 toilets & 2 showers.
Benches, chairs & a vanity mirror were also inclusive.

We hung around there, talking & buzzing until it was 6-ish pm.
Went to the stage for sound-check & practice, right after witnessing Sheila Majid's performance.
We were dead nervous - Jes, Farah D & I wanted her autograph!
Watched Leon & Julie's performance. It was fabulous.
The "No, you can't. Yes, I can." performance.

Went down - or shall we say up? - for dinner.

It was the BOMB!
The food was delicious - mmm...

Rice, daging rendang, sweet & sour fish, chicken...
Well, I remembered that the line was super long & Mr Andrew cut our line =.="
Khai Liang tried to too but failed since I 'accidentally' tripped him.

Sat down at a table with Pinky, Dani, Joanna, VK, Khai Liang, Edward & Annabelle (I hope I spelled your name properly).
Ate dinner.
Watched the guys - specifically VK, Khai Liang & Edward - 3G-ing each other =P

Had a very uncomfortable conversation.
Ran for the brownies.

I'm sorry but my brownies are better =P

Listened to the National Choir singing.
God, they were super awesome. The altos rocked.
Ms Ann & Julie were getting ultimately nervous.

Went back to our dressing rooms - cheh wahh, we sound like celebs.
Hmm... Taught Jes how to box (properly) =P
Oh, & reminisce the Assembly moment where he went all funny on the, "It's the Hare & The Tortoise!"

& just then, a sudden realization struck.
I didn't bring my shoes.

I was stuck with sport shoes.
That was why I wrote the Wasted 10 minutes talking... thing!

I felt like such a coward so I decided that the closest I could do of black shoes were Leon's which could've been completely black if not for the white shoelaces.
But I wore it anyway.

Until Ms Ann found out about the dillemma.
Received the huge told-off I deserved.

Time was slowly melting away & all I remember are all the moments walking around, panicking, singing & laughing with Joanna, Pinky, VK & Dani - you guys rock.

Erm, except VK.
Because for one, dude, you don't rock when you fart...

Twice.

& another, you don't wear other people's uniform, especially when the owner happens to be your opposite sex =.="

Lastly, he cheats in Thumb Wars! =P

Other than that, I remember karaoke-ing with Dani the Merpatih Putih song.
& then it was near the time to go on stage.

Changed, wore the usual make-up (blue-slash-green eyeshadow, blusher).
Got a pep-talk from Datin, who was just glowing - by the way, congrats to Datin, for receiving the 3rd century award!
Then, begin the (what I'm realizing) traditional group pictures.

Gave up about the shoes issue & succumbed to Joanna's (joke) suggestion - I wore my socks over my shoes.
Yes, you heard.

I went on National Television, sang in front of the Prime Minister & hundreds of people in sock-covered shoes.

& you wouldn't believe that I actually received compliments for my 'ingenious' idea - which Joanna took credit for, of course.

Why, though, I wouldn't know.

So, yea, we were the first runner-up (not like it was a contest) for the dinner show, just when people got their dinner.
We were dead nervous back stage. There were another layer of red curtains so there could've been alot of free space to walk back & forth but there were too much TV stuff, I guess.
What, with all the wires & stuff.

There were also some models who were dead pretty & a few VIP-looking people.

Finally it was our turn.
So there we were on stage, a girl happening to wear socks over her shoes but no one noticed (thankfully), singing Getaran Jiwa, Bunga Cempaka & lastly...
Tanggal 31!

=P

It was done.
Over.
Kapuit.

But it was brilliant, or that's what my mom's friend said, at least.
We hung around until Datin got her award - so we got to eat dinner... Twice!
I sat with the same people, I think
- Pinky, Dani, VK, Farah D, Farah F, Annabelle, Edward, Choi An (did I spell the name correctly? I'm sorry =/ ) & Joanna.

Mmmm... 2nd helpings with the chicken, this time, since, you know, there weren't people watching me eat or something.
& if there were, they were just the people I knew.

Ooh, I saw Mrs Wee & Ms Chung & Pn Hamidah at the event!

Not only did we get a delicious serving of dinner, not only just the freebies we've received (an environmental-friendly bag, with Malay Women magazines & collectible chocolates) but most importantly...

This time, we had brownies.
With ice cream!

=P

So we departed, after what seemed a few speeches.
Collected our stuff.
Checked.
Calmed down Pinky, who was a little creeped out with the bus because it was, you know, a little old so it looked a little eery with the lamp light shining on it.

To be honest, I was creeped out, too.

Anyway, we went back home.
Smiled at the increasingly familiar environment - laughter, girl screams...
& then, I closed my eyes, put my legs up, hummed to myself a song & the next thing I knew...

I woke up with a thud! & voila, we arrived.
At 11:30pm, no less.

I happily went back home until I had another realization.
No, not that my food could spoil in my lunch box which was in my locker overnight.
No, not that my shoes were left in the hall.
Not even because I was wearing a pair of socks which I used inside-out.

It was that...

There was school the next day.

=P

Haha,
Well, yea.
There goes the events of the wonderfully melodious day =P

& now, dear friends, readers...
I shall hit the hay.

Commencements : Take Two

It's half past two in the morn' & here I am, blogging in fear that I forget every excruciatingly awesome detail of this equally awesome (yester)day.

[ahem]

Arrived at 11.
Sweaty all over. Got a very unexpected (& not very pleasant) welcome from Richard =.="
Saw Ms Ann strolling down linkbridge - laughingly informed us that we were supposed to come at eleven thirty.

Went for break/lunch with Xela, Enna Uhs, Cheng, Roy, Ivan.

Gathered at linkbridge for bus to depart.
Zara & I used our super powers to move the bus - no, don't laugh.
It really did move!

=P

Sadly, we didn't go in the bus but in Mr G's car.
Oh, oh, oh!
Must not miss the part when Philip had to go by van with the rest of the Primary kids & hysterically sent us a clear message =P

During the ride, I got complimented by darling Zara that I smile like Vitamin C.
My witness is Leandra - she'll come to my defense =P

We mostly lepak-ed around during the first half of the day.
Oh, I remember that Philip & I were searching for a Mac to watch 200 pounds Beauty - yes, I shall grudgingly admit that the boy has... Some taste.

Unfortunately, he gave away Brandon's Mac to Julie.
Really.

Watched the others performed - including the Cannon Rock & the Mamboz body percussion, which ROCKS!

Also read my latest book, The Waitress by Melissa Nathan, bless her soul.

Oh, oh, oh!
Sudden scene flashback : Backstage, was hitting Philip with Pinky, Mithrra & Lavinia because he said something annoying - I forgot what - & then Leon came in & he was like, "Woah, how many girls do you have here? 1, 2, 3, 4...? Ni-ice..."

Hmmm... Then we changed into our uniform & went to CPAC for pictures.
My knees hurt & was pretty sure that the guys in the front rows are pretty sore too.

Okay. I'm spacing out on the things between.

Oh, oh, oh!
I remember that Noodles - sorry, Farah F - was serenading me again (ahahahah) & Farah D came in & caught her in the act & we fell into hysterical giggling fits.

Because whenever Farah D was searching for Farah F, she always catches her singing to me =P

& then, Farah F was trying to sing She to me but Dani was in the singing fever too so he was singing aloud & the two started to have a row to shut up.

Hehe.
Life as the Cempaka Voices choir member would never be boring.

Blanking out.

Oh, accidentally called Azam Asam & Gabrielle Eugene.
Feeling guilty.

Oh, oh, oh!
There was that one time where I suddenly had the urge to do a goofy dance & spotted an empty room.
Opened the door & nearly began but noticed someone at the corner of the room, all emo or either very bored.

Wanted to die because my right hand was nearly at a disco position.

PIASK

We were waiting for the Commencements to just start already & finally, at 10:30pm on the dot, it began.

The choir was fun - woohoo!
The body percussion were awesome.

Ian was brilliant at his piano solo - obviously.
Joann was equally jaw-dropping with her (Italian? Latin? French?) solo.
&, of course, the orchestra was fantastic with the Rihanna song!

Well, yea, that's all I can remember.

Damn. I think it's too late - early? - for me.
I can't think well.

Oh well.

Till then,
Aishah =)

T-Minus 2 days

Okay, okay.
Since today was unusually & exceedingly peculiar, & altogether quite impossible to describe... (haha) I must, must, MUST type it all down - erm, out.

Anywayz, today I came unbelievably early for school since I promised Mrs Malar to do so (for the PEKA folio money).
My classmates, I am happen to announce, did notice this sudden course of event.

Hmm... I do recall that the minute I step foot on the linkbridge, I saw Roy getting out of his car. Caught up on what was happening in school - Sejarah test, which I missed, muahahha - & greeted my class.

Went to Mrs Malar with Amanda.
Paid money.
She owes me money (Amanda, not Mrs Malar).

Got on the bus.
Read with my official reading buddy, Amanda =)

Arrived.
Did the teaser during the Cheras assembly.
Waved at the little people.

Endured the girls squealing over how cute the reception kids were.
Endured the guys who were equally embarrassing, what with the funny faces they were making at the kids.

Performed What is this Feeling?
& kept looking up, in hopes of seeing someone...

[cough]

Oh yes, & there was this embarrassing part where we kept screaming "WICKED" when Datin asked us to finish her sentence.

Sadly, we were supposed to read her shirt (Oz-Zome!).

When the hall was evacuated, we got another new shirt!!!
I still prefer our first shirt but this shirt isn't too shabby - for those who does not know what shirt I'm talking about, it's black (of course) & then there's Wicked Production Crew written in front.

Forgot what was written behind but I can still remember the word Oz-Zome.

Short meeting & finally dismissed.
As I went to CPAC floor, I had the sudden urge to wear a pair of goggles.

Miraculously, there happened to be one right under my bag!
It's like fate wanted me to wear it.

So I was wearing the pair of goggles for the whole day as a necklace.
Ain't that somethin'?

Had a merry chat with the violinists (a.k.a. Leandra, Siew May, Laura) & Alexis.
Unfortunately, I had to withdraw myself from my seating & move to another table to accompany our beloved Mak Minah (while spaghetti was still hanging out from my mouth since, as we all know, our beloved Mak Minah was not known for her patience).

Enjoyed my lunch.
As soon as Philip got out of his seat to buy ABC - the latest trend of food in Cheras, beating pau - I moved to the seat & ate.
I was also fascinated with Mak Minah trying to stab her - already dead, I pointed out - lamb steak.

After throwing away my food, I went back & grabbed my bottle as I was thirsty.
Screamed when Aminah & Lauren screamed as water came flooding out of my - apparently - unclosed bottle.

I would've laughed if it wasn't for the fact that I had lost half of my precious water.
Again.

Lauren was trying to stop the water flowing down on Aminah's foot, I think.
Which was funny.

Aminah became hysterical when she saw her foot getting wet - along with her shirt.

At least I had the decency to offer my goggles.

I put the blame on Philip, as he came back from the ABC place, saying he was a jinx - because the last time this happened, he was there too.

So everyone was blaming everyone, technically.

Went back.
Got annoyed by Wen Xin.

Chased him to the North Hall.
Was stuck listening to a few (racist) jokes, along with a whole bunch of lame, insulting ones.

Oh yes, to add insult to injury (or is it the other way around? I can never coin that phrase), I was insulted by Philip when he told me that I wasn't very funny & he told a joke to prove that he was funnier.

Only he told the lamest joke ever.

Went to CPAC to grab my book with Amanda (book buddy!).
Told her the plot of my story during the journey.

Saw a frowning Veronica in one of her costumes in the office, waiting for her official picture ot be taken.

Read our books in peace in the North Hall.

Hmm, the choir didn't do much for the rest of the day so we got half the day off (since they used yesterday's recording, which sounded great!).
Spent half of that half day trying to read.

Got lectured (twice) that I'd be wearing glasses if I continue the habit.

Decided to watch bits of the show, since I might as well.

It was so funny since they had to mouth the words - they were trying to perfect the movements now - & sometimes, they'd mouth the wrong thing.

The funniest was during the Thank Goodness! scene when Claudillea was mouthing the words & as she was singing "Toda-ay" (a very long note, I can assure you) her mouth was closed during half the time & she suddenly opened her mouth.

Went to toilet to escape.

What I hate most about these Cheras toilets are that there's no stupid door so if we happened to have rub our eyes since it was so dusty there in the doorway, we'd look like we're crying & people would pass by.

Well, guess who was today's unlucky victim?
Oh yes, the passerby was him.

No, not that him.
The 3-days him.

But I didn't care.
Much.

Bumped into DeeDee, to my everlasting relief & talked on the way.

Stayed in (fridge) North Hall until Ms Ann took the choir to Dance Studio 2 for practicing our moves for Thank Goodness!
Fun moves, as usual.

Went back to North Hall for quick meeting.
Got our letters.

Shared a devastated look with him (the REAL him) when Datin told us that Damansara wasn't doing well in selling the tickets - only 4 tickets were sold today.

Listened to Mr Kang sing.
Laughed at his [cough] gay-groupies (a.k.a. Edward, Dani, VK).

Went back.
Took the wrong bus.

Stranded.

Comforted... Someone.
In vain.

Started feeling jealous that guys could comfort her & I couldn't.

Okay, except this one dude, Quang (if I spelt the name right) who comforted her so well until he started laughing.
Which I had to tell him, "Dude, you don't laugh when someone cries."
& he just shrugged, "But it's funny!"

As soon as I took out my lunch box, Alyssa jumped up & said, "I want!"
Gave her half a sandwich.

Roy suddenly took my tupperware & he begged for one, too.
I just looked at him & said, "I'm sorry but I don't even know you!"

& then, hesitatingly, he gave back my sandwich.
But I quickly asked whether he had clean hands.

He brightened - probably thinking that if he said yes, I'd give it to him - & nodded his head & I just said, "Okay." & asked him to put it back.

As I was abandoned by said victim to Lauren, I decided to read.

My reading time was momentarily disturbed when a foot propped up on my armrest.
Looked around & saw that the foot belonged to Roy.

I couldn't crush it since I barely knew him - as I stated - & edged away from the armrest like chicken pox.

Arrived.
Went back home.

Quickly took off goggles before mom saw.

The end.

That's the wonderfully long day I had =)

Wednesday, June 20

Declassified

Okay, this isn't supposed to be here but nvm. This wasn't fully relevant to the Wicked but it's fun a story to tell! =P

The best bit of the day (which was yesterday, by the way) was that we get to miss school & also practise so that we could back up Jaclyn Victor - who is one of the most talented singers I've ever met! Plus she's super nice.

We went to school at 10am (brilliant 10am!) & then practise, practise, practise in jeans & the Wicked shirt (hehheh, got formal practise attire! Don't play play ah).

For a minute there, I was freakin out bcoz Lyssa called & she was telling me to hurry up (she was waiting for me at the link bridge - she also didn't know how to go in without getting caught. Hehe).

So I quickly packed, packed, packed & when I was on the way to school, I realised (a little too late) that I didn't bring my black socks for the formal attire thing later on.

Finally arrived. Didn't see Lyssa - found out later that she used the canteen way.

Little toddlers were tromping everywhere.

Merayau-rayau everywhere.

Finally went on the van after dragging Philip away from the class for the 3rd time.

Van Trip 1 : Total snooze-fest. Nothing was happening. Everyone had their space & was hogging the snacks. Thank you, Julie for the choccies!!

NO thanks to Brandon who was hogging the chips =.="

Arrived. Started the camfest.

Click! Snap.

At one point, there was even the sound of a quack!.

Zara & I were dead shocked to see Philip go all camera-ready on us all.
We went all fuiyo! when he took out his blazer & slung it over his shoulder like those male models do at the runaway catwalk thing!

Haha =P

Waited for Jac at the lobby for what seemed like eons.
Decided to rest in the room - which was pure glamour.

Dude, we've even got our personal ice machine outside our room! =P

Haha

Went downstairs after making a racket in the room - hehe, like monkeys only - & then practised with Jac for soundcheck.

The mike system wasn't perfect at first (I mean, the monitors were just blaring at us & our mikes weren't even on) so we couldn't be heard but we heard Jac live - FOR FREE!!!!

Later, Ms Ann told us that [cough] somebody [flips hair, puckers lips, swings handbag] said maybe we couldn't sing.

The NERVE of that g-
Um, person!

Haha =P
We're so bad.

Went up. Went down.
Fluster, flutter, fluster.
Dab, dab, dab.
Gloss, comb, brush.

Yes, you got it. Us gals went to the toilet to freshen up.

We went inside & instantly put on our blazers.
It was freezing!

There weren't alot of people, come to think of it.
Onlya few, invited & performers.

Pn Farah was there, looking elegant in that dress & so we went backstage to line up & prepare.

The guys - note, guys - were dead noisy!
I don't know why they were so scared. It was just walking to the stage first.

Haizzz =P

Performed.

Thought we could die but saw Ms Ann & the other teachers smiling & clapping like mad.

Relieved.

DINNER.

FINALLY!! My most long-awaited event.

The courses were so... Yum.

Okay, I sat between Lachman & Brandon, Philip, Zara...

Philip kept telling us lame jokes & we kept making small talk about how guys eat so fast to how to hold a pair of chopsticks properly.

Seriously.

Then there was that part where Philip just got back from work.

Haha =P Who knew berbakat boy knew how to act?

& finally, we went back.

Van Trip 2 : Wah, here everyone went psycho already.
The girls went "I say SOR-RAY!" over & over.

Brandon & Philip. Aiyo, they're the silent, strong [cough] type.

Then it was cheesy karaoke night in a van!

Raindrops keep falling on my he-add!
'Coz baby, there ain't no mountains high enough!
I love yoooou, you love meeee...

You get the picture.

When we arrived, my dad called.
Didn't know where he was & then Zara started laughing like a madwoman.

Turned around & bam! there he was!

Haha =P

I wasn't being blur.
It's not nice to creep behind people, you know?

Well, that's lal I can remember!

Wednesday, June 13

Day 2

Ahhhhh, today was way better than yesterday!

Okay, okay... Where to begin, where to begin?

Um... I arrived early - incredibly early - that I managed to line up for assembly with the rest of the people! (Hey, cut me some slack. 7:35am is early enough for me)

& I got a glance of all my classy-mates (hehheh). Unfortunately, I got dragged away for what seemed like a 7 second glance & went downstairs to the canteen for a break.

Zoom!

Went to 1 Terra. Hehheh, action sikit lahh. Showed off my Wicked shirt =P

Jk jk! I gave evry1 their Geo papers before Mr Jiwa (Jeeva, Jeewa... Potato, potahto) would attack me with such gaity!

Zoom!

Was in the bus with Amanda & began laughing our heads off.

[Sigh] I still say that's the weirdest fly I've ever seen in my life =.="

Zoom!

We did the jazz-ercise! Haha =P

& then there was the song.

Oh my God... The song was practically ringing in our heads. It's like Ms Ann drilled a hole in our heads while singing Loathing... Unadulterated loathing....

But at least we sound nice.

I quote : "It's like magic. Bzzzz." =P

We had loads of breaks - when Ms Ann was working onto the different voices - so Marlena & I were playing the '1-10 game'.

Nyek =P

Sadly, no Koreans were at the Avenue so there wasn't much to rate.

Oooh, & there were those 'macho businessmen-looking' dudes who were carrying lunch boxes which looked like suitcases.
I mean, seriously.

How come their lunchboxes look so macho comparing to mine???

Zoom!

Lunch : Went to C3. Dude, there were so many stuff happening.
Um, like when I accidentally said, "Edmund" in front of Edward & spilt a drink on Mak Minni.

Oh yea! Most interesting highlight?

We got this one-to-one lesson on how guys sit.

So far, we've mastered 3 poses =P

Zoom!

We sang with the orchestra!
Wheeeee, it sounded so nice!!

Except that all the girls were cooing about Ian.

Sheesh. He's just some kid with a mini cello. Nothing cute about that.

Hmmmph =P

Zoom!

In the bus next to Amanda (again).

"Annoyed, she is."
"Messy, she is."
"Headache, I have."

Hehe =P It was so fun!

Well, zat's all for now!

O&O,
GadgetG;o)
